Even we all read the grammar book of P.K.Mukherjee ,this is the best books to set our basic knowledge in English Grammar. But ,for competitive exams, this is not enough to score. So, throughout the all books in the market, I suggest you to buy two books . One for objective English means for MCQ based questions (mainly for prelims exams) and other is for broad questions means descriptive answers ( mainly for Mains). The two books are "Objective General English " by SP Bakshi and "Descriptive English " by SP Bakshi.

I refer you to keep Descriptive English because from the very beginning of preparation,we have not only focused to crack the prelims but the Mains also and in the Main exam, there is no McQ based questions.
