I create some other parts for giving you more description about WBCS. But , throughout this article I'm telling you all about the basic criteria for this examination. These are Eligibility, Age Limitation, Exam Pattern, Question Pattern,Number Division,Group Division,Job Profile and Salary.
West Bengal Civil Service (Executive Cadre) Job is one of the most demanding jobs in India. This job is too prestigious job for the candidates who finally crack the all divisions of the examination and the salary is also lucrative. WBCS Executives are responsible for the accountability and maintenance of office administration,social welfare and to corporate administrative works through active participation. As an executive with West Bengal Civil Service Commission,you will have the opportunity to work directly for the national growth. All these features make the job a lifetime opportunity for all the applying candidate.
Throughout this article, I describe all criteria one by one and this is trustworthy because I'm also a WBCS aspirant and gain these informations from many sites and books. Let's start the first point with the description of Eligibility.
1. Eligibility:-
The eligibility to attend this examination they need many conditions.These are,
• A degree from a recognized university in any disciples. Mainly,you must have to be a graduate in any stream.
• You have the ability to read,write and speak Bengali. Because the main language of West Bengal is Bengali. But this condition is not for the candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali.
• Must have a citizenship of India.
2. Age Limitation :-
Minimum age to attend this examination is 21 years .
Maximum age to attend this examination is 36 years.
Sc/St/obc have some age relaxation process of 3-5 years.
3. Examination Pattern :-
There is three main parts of this examination. Preliminary ( prelims) , Mains and Interview. Many people said the interview process as a selection process.
Now I come to the number division point of these divisions.
•In the prelims part ,there is 8 subjects which contains total 200 Marks. This means each and every subject contains 25 marks which is totally MCQ based questions.
• If you get 60% marks of the total marks of the preliminary {(200×60%)=120} examination then you can eligible to attend the Main examination.
• Now come to the most tough division of this examination. The Main examination contains a huge numbers .The total marks of the examination is 1600. There are six compulsory papers and one optional paper . Each and every paper contains 200 marks . So ,dear aspirants I give you a suggestion that from the starting of the study you give your best to achieve your goal. What you study,How much time you study ,study perfectly . Do hard works. Prelims is easy so you have to focus on the crack the Main examination . If you start to prepare yourself and your study based on the Main examination,then I assured you that you can crack your prelims easily.
• Now this is the time to describe the last division of the examination but not the least. Even this is known as your personality test, selection test. This division is also carries 200 marks which is not a little. This marks is mandatory to the selection process. Yourso,you can understand that your result depends upon this numbers also.
3. Question Pattern :-
• Question Pattern of Preliminary Examination -(10th based questions)
✓English Composition (25 marks)
✓ General Science ( physical science + biology)(25 marks).
✓Current Affairs (national & international)(25 marks)
✓ Indian History ( Ancient Age- Mughal Emperor)(25 marks)
✓Indian History (Freedom Movement)(25 marks)
✓Geography ( India+ West Bengal)(25 marks)
✓Indian Constitution and Economics(25 marks)
✓General Mental Ability ( G.I. + Maths)(25 marks)
Note- Here you can see that there is a good scope to score in History. If you study this particular subject hardly then you have a better possibility to score in prelims.

The Constitution of India & Economy including roles and functions of RBI.
✓ Paper 6 :-(200 Marks)
Arithmetics and test of Reasoning
✓Optional Paper :-(400 Marks)
There are a huge collection of subjects to choose your optional papers. In which subject you are strong enough,you have more knowledge to score and you have a great preference you can choose it . You can choose two optional papers which contains total 400 marks. Each optional paper contains 200 marks.
4.Group Division-
There are four groups for each and every government exam for which you can apply.
Group A,Group B,Group C,Group D. There is some different rules for applying these groups.
*For Group A post- 1600 marks of main + 200 marks of interview=1800
*For Group B post - 1600 marks of main +200 marks of interview=1800
*For Group C post - 1200 marks of main +150 marks of interview=1350
*For Group D post - 1200 marks of main +150 marks of interview=1350
[Optional papers only for Group A & Group B]
✓Job Profile :-
•Administration
•Work for developmental and social welfare.
•Maintaining Peace and Integrity.
Apart from the above mentioned jobs,you may also be subjected to do any administrative work scheduled to a specific task.
✓Salary :-
As like as the group divisions ,there is also a division in salary scale of WBCS Executives.
•For Group A - 9000/- to 40,500 +G.P.Rs.5400/-
•For Group B - 9000/- to 40,500 +G.P.Rs.5400/-
•For Group C - 9000/- to 40,500 +G.P.Rs.4700/-
•For Group D - 7100/- to 37,600 +G.P.Rs.3900/-
